When do doors open and when does the film actually start?

Doors open 45 minutes before the film start time. We start our films as close to the advertised start time as possible.

Can we pay on the door?

You can, but it is cheaper by £1 per ticket if you buy 24 hours in advance. You may be disappointed if you don't pre-book as we frequently sell out. We also really appreciate it if you book in advance as it helps us plan the right amount of staff needed for each films and in the long run helps us keep our prices low. Can I buy Gift Vouchers?

Yes you can! You can buy online HERE or call into the Box Office.

Can we bring our own food and drinks?

No, food and drink sales are what keeps us afloat.

Can we order food & drinks at the cinema?

Yes! Upon arrival, you’ll receive a waiter card. Proceed to your seat, place the card on the table, where you will also find a copy of our extensive menu. A waiter will take your order shortly and deliver it to your table. Due to limited time before the film begins, orders can only be taken once, especially during busy periods, so please order everything at once.

Please note that our bar and kitchen CLOSE at the advertised film start time and remain closed during the film. Please arrive at least 20 minutes early to order — earlier is even better!

Can we bring dogs?

Yes! Well-behaved and quiet (silent) dogs are welcome at the Magic Lantern. However, they are only permitted in the STALLS, so please ensure you book the correct seat if purchasing tickets online. Dogs must remain on leads, must not sit on chairs, and must not obstruct walkways. If your dog barks, we will ask you to remove them, and unfortunately, we will not be able to offer a refund.

Can children come without adults?

Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

What does 12A film rating mean?

12A means children under 12 may attend the film if they are accompanied by someone over the age of 18. We are legally obliged to refuse entry to children under 12 if they do not have an adult with them and we may need ID to confirm ages. Please note 12A films are not recommended for any child under 8.

When is Sundowners Cocktail Bar open?

Sundowners, our outdoor cocktail and ice cream bar, is open during the summer holidays when it is sunny! Check the Sundowners page for opening times.

Do you sell any merchandise?

Yes, we do! Ask at the box office during your visit. Our online shop will be ready soon!

I’m planning a big birthday party. Can I hire the venue?

Yes! The Magic Lantern is available to hire for any type of events such as Celebration Parties, Kids Birthday Parties, Meetings, Information Days, Music Concerts or Private Screenings. More information HERE.

Where can I park?

There are 3 general and 2 disabled parking bays directly in front of the cinema and several parking spaces across the road and next to the Corbett Hotel. Check this page for more information.

What films are you showing next month?

We aim to publish the programme for the following month as soon as possible, usually during the last week of the current month. However, this may not always be possible if the programme has not yet been finalised. Our monthly brochure is available for download HERE. You might also find it helpful to check our Facebook page and film listings page, where you can preview some of the films scheduled for the coming month.
